The Book Fair is Coming

It's that wonderful time of year again! No I am not talking about the upcoming holidays, I am talking about the RCS MS Book Fair. The book fair will be arriving at the middle school library media center on Dec 16 and run through Dec 21. The fair will be open from 1st to 9th period. Students will be visiting the book fair during classes and are more than welcome to come during study hall periods and their lunch. A schedule will be released soon. Parents are more than welcome to stop by during regular book fair hours. Cash and checks only. This is a great time to pick up those last minute gifts. See you soon!

Library Re-Organization

There is so much going on in the RCS MS Library! We have started re-organizing the library to make better use of space available. Thanks to our new library volunteer the re-organization is moving along. Our new books arrived and are already on our shelves. I can't believe we are almost through the first quarter. This year is moving along quickly!

New School Year

The New School Year is here. There have been a few changes in the library so far, and there are many more to come as the year progressess. We have a whole new batch of sixth graders starting at the middle school. It's going to be a fun year!

We just started the third quarter and the new sixth grade library skills students are getting their first experiences in library skills class. I am looking forward to this quarter. We will be hosting another book fair in the spring - with our "buy 1 - get 1 free" special. Will keep you posted.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! January is starting out great. The book fair held in December was a great success. The English teachers were given some great new additions for their classroom library and the library media center has some amazing new reads for it's shelves. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped to make it a success. Can't wait to do it again in the spring.

Book Fair is Coming!

The MS will be hosting their annual fall book fair in the Library from 12/10 - 12/12. Student will be visiting the fair during their English classes to look at and purchase materials.

We have completed our first month of school, and students are back into the swing of things taking books out (and thankfully returning them as well). Some of our new books should arrive sometime soon, which is always fun here at the library. When a new book order arrives it's almost like having a birthday with lots of presents! It is so much fun to go through a box of brand new books and get them ready for check-out. If you have a suggestion of a title you would like to see in the library, stop by and see me. I'll be happy to check into the title for you and see about getting it for the library.

We are halfway into our first quarter. In library skills class we are currently learning about different types of resources in the library, and getting some practice using them. Soon we will be starting our major research project, practicing all the skills we have learned.
