We just started the third quarter and the new sixth grade library skills students are getting their first experiences in library skills class. I am looking forward to this quarter. We will be hosting another book fair in the spring - with our "buy 1 - get 1 free" special. Will keep you posted.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! January is starting out great. The book fair held in December was a great success. The English teachers were given some great new additions for their classroom library and the library media center has some amazing new reads for it's shelves. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped to make it a success. Can't wait to do it again in the spring.

We have completed our first month of school, and students are back into the swing of things taking books out (and thankfully returning them as well). Some of our new books should arrive sometime soon, which is always fun here at the library. When a new book order arrives it's almost like having a birthday with lots of presents! It is so much fun to go through a box of brand new books and get them ready for check-out. If you have a suggestion of a title you would like to see in the library, stop by and see me. I'll be happy to check into the title for you and see about getting it for the library.

We are halfway into our first quarter. In library skills class we are currently learning about different types of resources in the library, and getting some practice using them. Soon we will be starting our major research project, practicing all the skills we have learned.

Also, take a look at the new reading website at RCS Reading Website. It will give you some great tips to help your child with reading and reading strategies, as well as some fun sites, book reviews and examples of some of the projects students have done.

The New School Year

Welcome back to the 2008-2009 School Year. I hope you had a good summer. I am looking forward to an exciting year here in the MS Library. The new sixth grade has come in for library orientation so they become familiar with their new library and they have started to check out library materials. They are enjoying the fiction, non-fiction and magazine collection. See you at Open House on Sept. 18.

End of the Year

I still can't believe it's June already. Time has certainly flown by. It has been a great first year here at RCS MS. The students and teachers were so welcoming.

We are still missing quite a few books, so if you find them at home, under the couch, or the bed or in the bookshelf don't throw them in the garbage, take a ride by the MS and drop them off.

Have a great summer! Relax and enjoy yourself. If you see me around, don't forget to stop me and say hi. I can't wait to see you in September.

End of the Year Book Return

It's that time of year again! It's time to clean out your locker, clean out your backpack, time to go through all the places your overdue library book couldn't possibly be and find it! And then you need to remember to bring it back to the Library and return it!

The last day to check out books from the library (providing you don't have any overdue books) is Friday, 5/30. After that it's return, return, return.
